“Local Agenda 21” is a local-government-led, community-wide, and participatory effort to establish a comprehensive action strategy for environmental sustainability. Initiated in the UK, it was a response to Agenda 21, a United Nations action plan for sustainable development from the 1992 Earth Summit. It involves assessing local environmental problems, raising awareness, and implementing sustainable development plans.
