Definition of “Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS)” :

Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) is a rapid chemical analysis tool that uses a focused laser beam to remove a small amount of material from a sample. The removed material forms a plasma, and the light emitted from this plasma is analysed to determine the chemical composition of the sample. In waste management, LIBS is used for sorting different types of materials for recycling, such as plastics and metals.
